F.A.Q.

Where will my session take place?-I am an on-location photographer and do all my cake smashes indoors at the clients home. Your home is my studio, I will have everything with me for your session. The only thing I need to know is if you will have enough room for me to set-up. I will need at least 8 feet by 8 feet of open space. You may have to move furniture, rugs or tables but I usually can make room in most homes.

I will need to schedule a quick consultation in your home to see the area I will be using, this also helps ensure I will bring all the right equipment for your space. We can also go over other details while I am there.

*Cake smash sessions will be on Saturday or Sunday, morning or early afternoon depending on your baby nap schedule.

Does Pure Baby Art Photography have all the props? -We will provide everything up to a certain limit and within a prop budget. You are welcome to include a few custom props if you want.

​Do you provide the outfits?-Yes!!  I have a growing supply of baby/toddler outfits for your child to borrow during their session. Any personalized pieces (name shirts, name hats, chalk board signs, etc) or unique outfits that you may want to include will be the parent’s responsibility of providing.

Can I see the backdrop and props before booking?– If you are thinking about one of the theme wish list cake smashes, I will gladly show you the backdrop I will use for it. I order from a variety of vendors. The props will coordinate with the set and will be on the set to give it some depth. Props are not the focus, your baby is the focus so he/she will be front and centered. The cake will also be designed based off the theme and colors.

​Is the Cake included?-Yes!! (excluding Donuts theme) A 6-7 inch round, one tier buttercream cake is included in the session, this will ensure your theme will match and flow together.  I will get the cake from a local baker and will bring it with me to the session. The inside of the cake will be white, sorry no chocolate as it tends to look like dirt or a dirty diaper.

My baby has food allergies, what can we do? -If your baby have ANY type of food allergy, you must disclose it to me ahead of time, I will talk to the baker and discuss alternative ingredients or alternative food choices. If you are unsure your baby has allergies, has your baby eaten eggs, cakes, cupcakes, dairy-based foods? If the baker can not make an alternative, you will have to be responsible for the cake.

How many photos will I get to choose from? – That depends on several factors. All babies have good days and bad days, some babies may not like the cake and some babies may love the bath. I will take a ton of photos and will do the best to get your little ones to smile. Parents often help a ton with this.  The session time will be around 60 minutes long so that gives us plenty of time to get several shots and different outfit changes! Depending on the baby our goal is to get anywhere from 30-45 photos for you to choose from!

Can I purchase more images?– Yes! If you see more than the included images that you love. You are welcome to purchase more.

What age is best for first birthday?– Babies MUST be between 10.5-13 months by the time the session date comes. Preferably before they start walking and running but if they are the cake should slow them down. The earlier we do the session the better so you can get photos back in time before the birthday party /invitations. If you are booking 2 -3 year olds no timeline is necessary

Can I get family/sibling images? – Cake Smash sets are only sized big enough for toddlers. You can book an outdoor family/sibling add-on mini session for an additional $100, which includes 5 extra images.

How do I book?-Email me to pay your retainer. The retainer is $100 which holds your spot. After you book we will set up an in-home consultation appointment, to meet and discuss details. The remainder of the payment is due on session date. Cake smash sessions should be booked 3-4 weeks in advance to ensure prep time and ordering of items needed.

Here are some tips to maximize your shoot:

* Do NOT schedule around nap time
* Have your kid favorite soft snack nearby. Avoid chocolate or any snacks that can stain faces and clothes. Cherrios is the best.
* Have an activity or movie on for other children in another room if possible. Also for your pets.
* Baby should be fed and well rested (morning nap).
* Have Patience
